State Rate Rules for Small-Dollar Lending

The rules allotment lenders must price inside — payday status, rate caps, statutes, and regulators for all 51 jurisdictions.

Allotment lenders must price inside each state’s small-dollar rules. The table below shows, for every jurisdiction: whether classic payday lending is allowed, the governing rate cap, and the regulator that licenses and polices lenders. Strict-cap states mean fewer offers at lower APRs; cap-free states mean more competition and wider pricing — compare total of payments either way.
